MRI Exams and MRI Exams Requiring Intravenous Contrast

You will be asked to complete a MRI Screening Form which is also available on this page. If you are 59 years old or older or have kidney disease (other than stones) or diabetes then a Creatinine blood test must be performed and the results reviewed by your referring physician before the CT exam. If you had a normal Creatinine drawn within the last three months, then those results are acceptable unless those results were abnormal in which case the blood test should be repeated.

Patients in chronic renal failure undergoing regular dialysis need to be dialyzed within 6 hours of an MRI exam with IV contrast.
