AAMC Expands to the Eastern Shore to Meet Patients’ Needs

Urgent Care Center Important to Kent Island Residents

In 2005, Anne Arundel Medical Center surveyed thousands of people in Queen Anne’s County—physicians, community leaders, businesses and residents—to determine exactly what health care services were needed most to serve the population.

Based on the input from those diverse groups, AAMC developed a plan that becomes reality in 2008 with the opening of a new 55,000-square-foot facility on the north side of Route 50 at the Route 18 overpass.

The new facility will include a full range of diagnostic services provided by Anne Arundel Diagnostics, as well as additional primary care physicians and specialists to supplement the physicians already on the Eastern Shore. An urgent care center will be operated by Johns Hopkins Community Physicians.

Tests, Doctor Visits Closer to Home

The inclusion of AAMC’s Anne Arundel Diagnostics will give residents of the Eastern Shore convenient access to a full range of diagnostic tests closer to home, including digital mammograms, CT scans, MRI exams, X-rays, ultrasound and lab work.

The addition of a primary care physician practice, Johns Hopkins Community Physicians, means there will be more providers for families to get wellness exams and screenings, flu shots, and other basic health care. When specialty exams are needed, patients have convenient access to the best medical specialists for cardiology; ear, nose, throat, allergy and asthma; obstetrics and gynecology; oncology; orthopedics and sports medicine; pain and physical rehabilitation; and pediatrics.
