More than 100 joint replacement patients, some whose surgeries were more than 15 years ago, took part in an AAMC Joint Center reunion at Westfield Annapolis Mall. Before the participants did stretching exercises and set out for the mile walk, orthopedic surgeons Marshall Steele, M.D., medical director of the AAMC Joint Center, James MacDonald, M.D., and Marc Brassard, M.D., gave brief presentations and encouraged their patients to continue to stay fit. The three surgeons performed replacement surgery on many of the patients in attendance. AAMC is first in the region in total joint replacements, performing more than 1,000 per year.

Rehabilitation After Joint Replacement

AAMC’s joint replacement patients can continue their post-surgical care at the AAMC Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, located in a new, larger area on the lower level of the Wayson Pavilion. Patients may park for free in the convenient new Wayson Pavilion parking garage.
