AAMC Helipad Nears Completion

helipad

The new helipad sits nine stories high on the hospital roof. The green light in the foreground is part of the helipad lighting system.

The new AAMC helipad, located on top of the main hospital, will be operational by the end of this year. The original helipad was located where the garage behind the Wayson Pavilion now stands; it was relocated in summer 2007 to the South Campus lot off Jennifer Road.

The AAMC helipad is used by local air transportation systems to bring patients to AAMC and to transport them to specialty facilities, when necessary. AAMC averaged 14 takeoffs and landings per month at its helipad last year.
