More than 120 attendees learned about colon, breast, and heart health at the community health forum “Health and Wellness for African-American Women at AAMC.” The event was organized to raise awareness of the major health concerns of African- American women throughout the region.

“African-American women have been shown scientifically to be vulnerable to many health issues that affect them at rates greater than other populations in our community,” said Irma Holland, a clinical education specialist at AAMC. “Through this collaborative effort with our community partners, we can arm African-American women with information that can help them make healthier lifestyle choices.”

The AAMC Community Health & Wellness Department and the Annapolis Outreach Center joined with the First Christian Community Church of Annapolis and the Continental Societies of Anne Arundel County to present this event.
