Summer 2009 The Safe, Smart Place to Have Your BabyWhether you believe safety comes in numbers, with experience or with medical technology, soon-to-be parents can rest assured that Anne Arundel Medical Center has it all when it comes to caring for mothers and babies. AAMC is the safe, smart place to have your baby! AAMC
Women’s & Children’s
Services offers:
Last year, more than 5,600 babies were delivered at AAMC—the second largest number in the state of Maryland. The babies and their moms were cared for by a dedicated staff of in-house obstetric hospitalists (physicians specially trained in obstetric care who work at the hospital) and highly trained nurses and other medical specialists. Sophisticated technology helps ensure that your little one arrives safe and sound. And, if complications arise, AAMC is the place to be. Our level IIIB Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)is a state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care unit that can care for the most critically ill newborns. This means if your baby arrives early—or needs specialized care—you will not be separated from your newborn. AAMC is proud to have the only level IIIB NICU in Anne Arundel County. Hospitals that do not have this level of care often must transfer babies to other health care facilities, meaning that mothers and babies cannot remain together. The NICU—also known as Teddy’s Place—is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by full- and part-time neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners and nurses with specialized neonatal training, many of whom have worked as a team for years. By now, you may have seen or heard about why AAMC is the safe, smart place to have your baby. We invite you to participate in our online forum to share your dreams about your baby and read what other moms are feeling and saying. Visit us at TheSafeSmartPlace.com. |
