ACE Star Model of Knowledge Transformation

In theory, evidence informed practice makes perfect sense. The challenge is putting it into practice. How do we make this transition at at AAMC? Here’s a tool that will help.

The ACE STAR Model of Knowledge Transformation © is a framework for the systematic integration of evidence into practice. It is composed of five major stages: knowledge discovery, evidence summary, translation into practice recommendations, integration into practice, and evaluation.

The ACE Star Model depicts various forms of knowledge in a relative sequence, as research evidence is moved through several cycles, combined with other knowledge and integrated into practice. It provides a framework for systematically putting EBP processes into operation.

Kathleen R. Stevens, Ed.D., RN, ANEF, FAAN, developer of the ACE Star Model of Knowledge Transformation, spoke to AAMC nurses during Nurses Week 2013. She discussed new resources that speed the transition of research discoveries into practice and helped them to develop an action plan for implementing their ideas. Click here to view her slides.
