Volunteer and Share the Joy!
Imagine joining a vibrant community more than 600-people strong that is integral part of providing high quality, compassionate health care. Imagine making a difference assisting patients in a one-on-one setting or by volunteering in a busy outreach clinic. Sound like a huge commitment? It’s not.
If you have a few hours a week to spare, you can be part of Anne Arundel Medical Center’s Auxiliary, a dynamic group of individuals that collectively provides more than 130,000 volunteer hours each year. Whether it’s assisting in the hospital gift shop or spending time with a sick patient, you can make a difference while being part of a growing, dynamic organization.
The AAMC Auxiliary is currently recruiting new volunteers. We invite you to join us on Tuesday, Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the 7th floor of the Health Sciences Pavilion, 2000 Medical Parkway. At this recruitment fair, we’ll highlight the 22 different service areas we assist in, and explain when our new emergency department, pediatric inpatient unit and 50-bed patient tower will be complete.
Come discover what AAMC offers. Come learn how your talents and gifts can help us grow. Come be part of a great community service team.
We hope to see you there.
Dorothy Elder
President, AAMC Auxiliary
The Auxiliary was established as a volunteer group to serve the hospital. Auxiliary volunteers are an integral part of AAMC’s mission of providing patient-centered, high quality health care services to our community. Auxilians have also been instrumental in raising funds for many hospital projects.
If you are interested in becoming a Volunteer, please call the Auxiliary Office at (443) 481-5050 to register for an Information Session. The session is about 1 hour long and will include an opportunity for you to ask questions of Auxiliary representatives and learn more about the volunteer services of the Auxiliary at AAMC.
The Auxiliary has over 500 active volunteers. These generous people give more than 130,000 hours of time per year. We offer an opportunity to give others a helping hand and a chance to make new friends. Our dynamic volunteers help in more than 22 services throughout the hospital.
Volunteers contribute in customer service areas assisting patients and visitors with information, in patient care areas assisting staff and visiting with patients, in the Gift Shop and Clothes Box and in our outreach clinic in downtown Annapolis.
Associate Volunteer Program
The Auxiliary’s Associate Volunteer Program is for those who cannot actively serve in the hospital but want to contribute to the work of the active volunteers. Through a small donation these Auxilians can stay in touch through the newsletter and attend social events. For further information, please call (443) 481-5055. You do not need to attend the Volunteer Information Session.
Volunteers at AAMC are asked to give one shift per week at a regular day and time. Accommodation is made for travel or other leave. The shifts are normally 9 am – 12:30 pm and 12:30 pm – 4 pm. There are limited opportunities for evening and weekend volunteer work. Volunteer assignments are based on the volunteer’s interest, schedule and the hospital’s needs. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
