Patient Advocacy

Patient Advocates are available to support patients and families in treatment decisions, crisis interventions, or to help individuals access resources available within the hospital system. Our goals are to serve as a liaison between the patient and the hospital, to keep the lines of communication open at all times, and to find solutions quickly.

Contact Patient Advocacy for:

• Answers to questions or concerns about hospital services and policies
• To share compliments or suggestions
• Advance Directives for health care decision making
• Language interpreters/sign language/TDD
• Travel assistance (accommodations, etc.)

Advance Directives

Advance Directives are specific legal forms, approved by the Maryland Legislature, in which you can give direction concerning end-of-life decisions, such as the use of life-sustaining treatment.

Advance Directives include Appointment of a Health Care Agent for Health Care Decision-Making; Health Care Instructions; and Living Will.

Medical Power of Attorney

The Appointment of a Health Care Agent (Medical Power of Attorney) is a legal document that lets you name someone you know and trust to make decisions for you concerning health care for your child in the event that you are not able. Anne Arundel Medical Center provides this information to all patients as part of a legislative requirement.
