Chair of the Department of Surgery
Adrian Park, MD, is chair of the Department of Surgery and is responsible for surgical programmatic growth, quality improvement and fostering innovation and learning in the department. He works closely with the members of Anne Arundel Medical Center’s Medical Executive Committee, medical staff and administration, and a member of AAMC Surgical Specialists.
Dr. Park formerly was chair of Surgery at Dalhousie University and chief of surgery for the Capital District Health Authority, both in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is the former vice chair of surgery and chief of general surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center as well as a member of the faculty at University of Maryland. Dr. Park is the former director of the Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery, head of surgical endoscopy and chief of the section of gastrointestinal surgery at the University of Kentucky.
Dr. Park is a member of the American Surgical Association, and is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, American College of Surgeons and the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa. He received his doctor of medicine degree from McMaster University in Canada.
The author of more than 200 scientific articles and book chapters, Dr. Park is internationally known as a leading authority in minimally invasive surgery, “OR of the Future” technology and surgical education.
