After winning the battle against breast cancer, many survivors still have hurdles to face and challenges to manage and overcome after treatment. There are more than 2.6 million women in the U.S. who are breast cancer survivors, and the number of survivors is expected to grow more every year.
The Breast Center at the DeCesaris Cancer Institute offers women a wide range of resources to help survivors, families, and friends better understand the complex emotional and social issues that may arise following treatment.
Our goals for breast cancer survivors include:
building survivors a bridge from acute care to maintenance and a path to wellness through a Nurse Practitioner led clinic.
providing a treatment summary and survivorship care plan.
summarizing pathology, treatment course.
recommending monitoring and a wellness plan.
offering support programs to meet the emotional.
supporting physical and existential needs of survivors.
coordinating monitoring guidelines.
symptom management and follow-up among healthcare providers and connecting survivors to community resources.
providing necessary referrals to appropriate specialists.
