Cancer remains one of the leading causes of death in the United States, and breast cancer is the second leading cause of death for women. Research is fast advancing our knowledge about possible causes of ways to reduce breast cancer risk.
Anne Arundel Medical Center has formed strategic partnerships in breast cancer clinical trials with leading research organizations including Johns Hopkins Medicine, the National Cancer Institute, Walter Reed Medical Center and the American Cancer Society. In these partnerships, the Anne Arundel Medical Center ensures patients have access to advanced technologies that are the subject of the research. Currently, we are part of the new American Cancer Society's cancer prevention study 3 – an epidemiology survey that follows the lifestyle and habits of hundreds of individuals. Independently, our Research Institute has launched research projects that will yield important information about cancer. The findings of our research will arm medical professionals with additional knowledge to combat the disease and more effectively treat patients with breast disease.
