The Geaton and JoAnn DeCesaris Cancer Institute at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Md. is a comprehensive, regional leader in cancer care that includes the latest in prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment. Many different types of cancer specialists collaborate and contribute to the care of our patients. Our goal is to provide the best patient experience possible, no matter where a person enters the cancer program.
Our shared commitment to patients and families is to seek out and offer the most advanced therapies, the best technology and the most skilled physicians, nurses and staff while never losing sight of the fact that successful cancer medicine is about caring, rapport and trust.
Prevention and Screening
Education is critical for both patients and practitioners to understand how to prevent cancer. Scheduled screenings are important based on current guidelines, including yearly and every other year for common cancers like breast, prostate and gynecologic cancers. For those populations at high risk, including those with a genetic history of cancer, we offer prevention and screening programs.
Clinical cancer research starts with the dedicated physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals who are interested in finding and examining new methods of treating and preventing cancer. Along with the support of our team of professional research nurses, research coordinators, and data managers, we offer several clinical trials for our patients.
