New Breast Cancer Program - Transition to Wellness Workshops

Women are concerned about breast health. They want the latest information about treatments for breast cancer and disease. Plus they need advanced technology combined with the most sensitive and informed care.

The AAMC Breast Center offers a comprehensive program for prevention and treatment of breast cancer and disease, including technologies like MammoSite high dose radiation (HDR) and procedures such as sentinel node biopsy, skin sparing mastectomy, and precision lumpectomy. State-of-the-art diagnostic imaging includes digital mammography, and dedicated breast MRI.

The AAMC Breast Center’s coordinated care team diagnoses and treats breast cancer patients using the highest level of expertise in a private setting.

Utilizing sentinel node biopsy and other innovative techniques like stereotactic and ultra-sound-guided biopsy, our Breast Center doctors can define and locate tissue abnormalities without exploratory surgery. And if surgery is required, they employ the latest, most advanced and least invasive techniques to conserve breast tissue, reduce pain and minimize scarring.

    What is a navigator?

The Navigator provides personalized information and support, assists with appointments and scheduling, and becomes the patient’s link to physicians, resources and therapies. Read more...

    Compassionate Support and Helpful Information

Our support groups, including SOS: Survivors Offering Support where survivor-mentors are paired with newly diagnosed patients, are available to meet the needs of women and their families. And we provide the newest prevention programs, such as the Risk Assessment and Prevention Protocol (RAPP) and Genetic Counseling, and also participate in a variety of clinical trials. Our Breast Center library is an open resource for our patients—or anyone—to access the information they want.

An Invitation to All Breast Cancer Patients Entering Wellness Following Treatment

We know that the breast cancer journey can be one filled with challenges. As you near the end of your treatment, we want to recognize that you have successfully completed the important treatment phase of the journey and are about to embark on a transition to new found wellness.

The transition to wellness is an important step in your journey as a breast cancer survivor. Many patients encounter difficulties when their contact with their medical team diminishes and may be frightened at the prospect of cancer returning. To assist you in fully embracing your transition to wellness, Anne Arundel Medical Center's Breast Center invites you to attend a workshop called:

Transition to Wellness - A Toolkit to Successfully Enter Life After Breast Cancer

Transition to Wellness Workshops for Breast Cancer survivors completing treatment are held at 6:00pm the last Monday of every month except May and Dec. in the Med Conf room, Floor 2 of the Sajack Pavilion.

The Transitions Workshop recognizes the defaulters faced by many patients as they move into life after cancer treatment.  Transitions provides a "Jumpstart into Survivorship" by providing insight from other survivors,  a checklist for healthy living choices, a checklist on what is needed from the medical community to be a successful survivor and a preview of Wellness strategies from Wellness Practitioners.

To register, please call 443.481.5305.  Transitions is sponsored in part by a grant from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure  Maryland Affiliate.
