Breast Imaging Center, Anne Arundel Diagnostics Imaging: Known for its high quality processes for breast imaging and diagnostic evaluation, Anne Arundel Diagnostics Imaging (AAD) recently received the Breast Imaging Center of Excellence Award from the American College of Radiology. Only 200 centers out of 8,800 nationwide have received this distinction for imaging standards and practices and full accreditation in mammography, stereotactic biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided biopsy. The Breast Imaging Center has five dedicated breast imaging specialists who only read images and perform breast procedures. Read more... Tumor Board: Prospective patients’ cases are presented and reviewed weekly by the breast tumor board. This meeting includes experts whose specialties cover all aspects of breast cancer care including medical oncology; radiation oncology; breast, plastic and reconstructive surgery; radiology; oncology nursing; genetic counseling; pathology; lymphedema; clinical trials; tumor registry; psychiatry, and social work. Plastic surgeons offer patients advanced reconstruction procedures, and the team ensures that patients who choose not to undergo reconstruction are aware of alternatives. Read more... Prevention: The RAPP, or Risk Assessment Prevention Program, is designed to identify, follow, and provide preventative interventions for women who are at increased risk for developing breast cancer. Fellowship Program: Dr Lorraine Tafra and her team offers a breast fellowship program through the Society of Surgical Oncology.
