The inpatient Oncology Medical Unit, located in the Acute Care Pavilion, consists of 16 private rooms dedicated to the care of patients experiencing issues related to their cancer diagnosis, treatment and progression. Our interdisciplinary team, including our Oncology Nursing Society-certified nursing staff, provides supportive services for medical and surgical oncology conditions requiring monitoring and restorative care.
We employ a patient-centered philosophy of nursing care, providing continuous 24-7 support. Individual care plans are tailored to focus on the needs of each patient and his or her family members. Our multidisciplinary oncology team works seamlessly with our network of Patient and Familysupport services.
In addition to treating patients’ medical issues, our comprehensive care plans focus on concerns such as survivorship issues and financial stresses related to living with a chronic disease. How to manage symptoms, coping and support strategies, and rehabilitative care are included in the ongoing education cycle for patients and families, provided from admission through discharge. We also monitor patients requiring end of life care, providing comfort measures, pain control and emotional support.
In addition, a wide range of cancer survivor support and counseling support groups are available for patients and their families.« Cancer Treatments
