The DeCesaris Medical Oncology team is composed of specialists committed to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients. Their areas of expertise include systemic treatments such as:
Our medical oncologists provide primary evaluation as well as continuous management and follow-up. They may act as coordinators of the oncology treatment team, evaluating and tracking tests results and follow-up exams. They are also available for consultations and second opinions for both inpatients and outpatients.
Our multidisciplinary approach to cancer care involves continuous and seamless collaboration between medical, radiation and surgical oncologists; nationally certified oncology nurses; and our extensive network of psychosocial support services staff. These teams treat a wide range of malignant disorders, from cancers of the skin, lymphatic system and bone marrow to cancers of the breast, prostate and other solid organs.
Hematologists are doctors who specialize in disorders of the blood. Since hematologists treat blood cancers, many of them also specialize as oncologists, who treat all types of cancer, including solid tumors. Typically, in the treatment of many cancers, your medical oncologist leads your team and plans your treatment, with the input and advice of other cancer specialists.« Cancer Treatments
