Your heart is the most important muscle in your body. That’s why our AAMC Cardiac team wants to help you keep your heart in excellent shape. We are available around the clock to care for any issues you may have with cardiac function. We also promote wellness by providing services that help prevent heart problems and improve your overall health.
Our Cardiac Catheterization Lab has state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to visualize and detect heart conditions, including coronary artery diseases that can lead to life-threatening heart attacks. The Catheterization Lab is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to care for patients who are having a heart attack.
AAMC provides emergency treatment for people who are having a special kind of heart attack called an S-T Elevation MI (STEMI). This care is available through a waiver from the Maryland Health Care Commission for hospitals without cardiac surgery on site.
AAMC is also able to provide elective angioplasty through our participation in the CPORT-E research trial. In this study, patients who qualify may have their non-emergency angioplasty performed at AAMC or may be randomized to be treated at another medical center in the region.
