529 Savings Plan

College education savings plans for your children or grandchildren. These plans receive favorable tax treatment (investments grow tax-deferred).

Adoption Assistance

Get up to $2,000 for each legal adoption, which can be used to offset legal or placement fees paid in connection with the adoption.

NIH Federal Credit Union

The NIH Federal Credit Union offers a full range of financial services including checking and savings accounts, loan programs, ATM accessibility and free bank by phone.

Dependent Care Flex Spending Account

Pay for day care or baby-sitting services using pre-tax dollars, thereby lowering your taxable income. Deposit up to $5,000 over the course of a plan year.

Employee Assistance Program

The EAP is a resource to help you navigate a variety of questions and concerns. Services include unlimited phone support, financial counseling and information about child and elder care. The EAP website also offers information on many health and family-related topics via articles, tip sheets, videos, worksheets, screenings and self-help tools.

Holidays

Six paid legal holidays per year are allotted to regular full-time employees. They include New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Medical Benefits

Vital Choices,  AAMC's flexible benefit program, allows employees to elect from various benefit options based on their individual needs. Vital Choices offers three different medical and dental plan options, vision, short- and long-term disability plans, three life insurance options, and long-term care choices. Flexible spending accounts are also available. Benefits are paid via payroll deduction; most are made on a before-tax basis.

Medical Flex Spending Account

Pay for certain medical and/or dependent care expenses using pre-tax dollars, thereby lowering your taxable income. Contribute up to a maximum of $5,000 pre-tax dollars over the course of the year.

Mental Health

LifeWork Strategies provides up to six free counseling sessions per year, per incident, in addition to assistance in dealing with stress, personal problems, emotional difficulties, family conflict, career challenges, and other issues.

Retirement: 403(b) and 401(a) Plans

Employees may contribute up to 100% of pay or up to $16,500 (or $22,000 for employees age 50 and over), whichever is lower, on a before-tax basis into the 403(b) plan.

Shift Differential

AAMC non-management employees may receive a 9% differential for evening shift, a 15% differential for night shift, and a 7% differential for weekend shift. Pathways non-management employees may receive an 8% differential for evening shift and a 15% differential for night shift.

Tuition Reimbursement

Obtain reimbursement for courses taken at accredited institutions. Full-time employees are eligible to receive up to $3,000 per year.  Nurses enrolled in the RN-to-BSN Program offered by the College of Notre Dame at AAMC are eligible to receive up to an additional $2,000 per year for tuition expenses, a total of $5,000 per year.

United Legal

Enroll in a group legal insurance plan that provides comprehensive legal protection for you and your family. Basic services include preparation of your basic estate documents: wills, advance directives and powers of attorney, as well as unlimited advice and consultation and review of legal documents.

Vacation and Sick Time

Combined Leave Benefit (CLB) hours are earned each pay period to provide a reserve of paid time off for vacations, illness, injury, pregnancy, or personal business. Accrual rate depends on length of service, hours worked and category of employment. Full-time hourly (non-exempt) employees earn 19 days per year. Full-time salaried (exempt) employees earn 24 days per year. Part-time employees accrue benefits based on hours worked.

Wellness

Energize is the wellness movement developed by employees with the simple goal of improving employee health. Resources include weight management services, discounted gym memberships, on-site fitness classes, healthier food options in the AAMC eateries, free on-site gym, smoking cessation, and more.
