AAMC Vision 2010/Overview

Vision 2010 is a comprehensive, strategic plan that was formulated to meet the needs of a thriving, growing region. It involves several components at AAMC – our people: how we maintain our culture of excellence in providing exceptional health care; our programs: advancing medical technologies while recruiting and engaging expert medical personnel, and our facilities: what we will add and what the campus will look like.

When completed, AAMC will have:

  • A new Acute Care South Tower, which will house 50 additional patient beds and eight new operating room suites, allowing AAMC to care for more than 6,000 additional inpatients each year.
  • A new Health Sciences Pavilion housing a Health Sciences Institute, physician offices and other diagnostic services.
  • An expanded and improved Emergency Department
  • A new Pediatric Emergency Department designated for pediatric patients.
  • A new Pediatrics Unit, connected to the new, dedicated pediatric emergency department.
  • An expanded and state-of-the-art Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), featuring 20 private patient rooms and an additional six-bed communal nursery.
  • An expanded Wound Center that offers comprehensive therapies for out-patient treatment of chronic, non-healing wounds.
  • An expanded Outpatient Rehabilitation Center.
  • A bridge connecting the Sajak Pavilion to the new Health Sciences Pavilion finished.
  • A bridge connecting the new Health Sciences Pavilion to the east side of the medical park campus.
  • More than 4,000 free parking spaces, convenient to each pavilion.

Many of these projects have already been completed. Please visit our timeline at [url here] to see up-to-date progress on our expansion.
In addition, AAMC has expanded its outreach to Kent Island, providing residents of Queen Anne’s County and surrounding areas with convenient access to AAMC medical staff and services. This new medical facility -- AAMC Health Services-Kent Island --  located on the north side of Route 50 at the Route 18 overpass, provides a wide range of services, including full diagnostic services such as digital mammography, MRI (magnetic resonance imaging)  and CT (computed tomography). Johns Hopkins Community Physicians will provide urgent and primary care. For a current list of specialties being offered, visit www.AAMCOnTheShore.org.
