In Anne Arundel County, the heart disease rate exceeds both the state and national average, and cardiovascular patients are becoming younger each year. Through the following community outreach efforts and heart health classes, the Heart Institute at Anne Arundel Medical Center is committed to reversing these alarming trends.
Heart Health Classes
The Heart Institute offers a host of classes and workshops-all open to the community-about improving and maintaining good heart health. See upcoming classes and register online.
Heartsaver® CPR Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Education
The Heart Institute's Heartsaver® CPR Automated External Defibrillator (AED) course teaches you the skills they need to respond to life-threatening emergencies involving adults, children and infants. We also have an AED instructional video online.
Early Warning Signs Education
The Heart Institute is working to raise awareness to the fact that heart attacks have beginnings. Knowing the early warning signs is critical. The Heart Deputy Quiz encourages you to make a pledge to share the importance of heart health, and educates you on the steps to take if you suspect that someone you know is having a heart attack.
Million Hearts® Initiative
The Heart Institute is a proud partner of, Million Hearts® a national initiative that was launched by the Department of Health and Human Services in September 2011 to prevent 1 million heart attacks and strokes by 2017. Learn more.
