Skilled Staff

The staff at the AMMC Joint Center is specially trained and focused solely on joint replacement surgery. A consistent team approach is embodied; focusing on your surgery and recovery in an atmosphere that emphasizes wellness and rehabilitation. Every aspect of your care is coordinated with you and your family.

Pre-operative Planning and Education

Pre-operative classes are offered to all patients and are strongly encouraged to help patients understand joint replacement surgery. Here, patients learn the mechanics of the joint and how they relate to the procedure itself. Patients also receive a guidebook that explains what to do prior to surgery, what to expect during the stay in the hospital, and how to care for yourself once you return home. Tours are also available of the dedicated unit, allowing patients to see first-hand the care and treatment they will receive.

Comprehensive Manual         
AAMC doctors and staff have written and published a manual that guides you through every phase of surgery and rehabilitation. This comprehensive manual includes information regarding every step of the surgical process and stay at the hospital, as well as detailed information regarding discharge and post-operative care.

Follow-up

After you leave the hospital, our contact does not end. All patients are contacted at three weeks after surgery to see how they are doing and to give us feedback on their experiences at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Joint Coordinator Juli Pastrana
Juli Pastrana, R.N., B.S.N., is the program coordinator of the AAMC Joint Center. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland and an R.N. degree from Anne Arundel Community College. A lifelong Annapolitan, she joined Anne Arundel Medical Center in 1980 and was instrumental in the development of our highly recognized Joint Camp.
