ANNAPOLIS, MD (March 22, 2002) -- The Board of Trustees and the Auxiliary of Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) will host a Centennial Gala from 6:30 p.m. until midnight on Saturday, May 11 in Alumni Hall at the United States Naval Academy. AAMC's Medical Staff is the major sponsor of the fundraising event, which will include a seated gourmet dinner, music for dancing by the Zim Zemarel Orchestra and a live auction.

In observance of AAMC's 100-year anniversary, an exhibit of photographs will trace the evolution of AAMC from its founding in 1902 as a cottage hospital to its current role as a regional medical center serving a population area of 650,000. Many of the photographs are taken from "A Century of Caring," an illustrated history of the hospital designed by Robert Madden and written by Catherine Avery and Jane McWilliams.

Marcia Lopata is chairman of the Centennial Gala's organizing committee. Committee members are Imelda Herzinger, Jane Jacobson, Sage Mumma, Anne Potter, Becky Quattlebaum, Sara Ostruski and Jeanette Wickwire. Tickets for AAMC's Centennial Gala are $175 per person or $350 per couple. For reservations, please call 443-481-4747.

Anne Arundel Medical Center is a not-for-profit regional healthcare provider.
