Anne Arundel Medical Center Recognizes Clinician Excellence at Medical Staff Appreciation Night
ANNAPOLIS, MD (March 21, 2012)- The Anne Arundel Health System (AAHS) Board of Trustees and Administration recently hosted “A Night of Many Thanks,” at AAMC’s Doordan Institute to honor the medical staff and its leadership. Nearly 800 members of the medical staff and their guests were treated to an evening of dinner, dancing and an awards ceremony to honor their colleagues.
AAMC CEO Victoria Bayless and Medical Staff President Ken Gummerson, M.D., presented excellence awards to the following:
Nursing Award: Kathleen Groody, R.N., Critical Care Unit, AAMC
Pioneer Award: Michael Clemmens, M.D., medical director of the Pediatric Emergency Room and Inpatient Unit, AAMC
Distinguished Service Award: Joseph Moser, M.D., SVP of Medical Affairs, AAMC
Community Service Award: Scott Eden, M.D., medical director, AAMC Community Health Center
Research Award: Lorraine Tafra, M.D., breast surgeon and medical director, AAMC Breast Center
Above and Beyond Award: Stanley Watkins, M.D., medical director, AAMC Research Institute
Leadership Excellence Award: Joseph Morris, M.D., medical director, OB/GYN Hospitalist Program, AAMC
The AAMC medical staff created the awards in 2001 to recognize outstanding achievements by individual members. They are presented once every three years. Nominations are submitted by colleagues, and the Medical Executive Committee selects the final recipients. This year, the committee added an award for Community Service and one for an exceptional staff nurse as well.
