Diabetes Management Podcast

If you pull up Google, and begin typing “G-E-S” into the search bar, one of the first suggested topics offered by Google is “Gestational Diabetes,” a sign of just how many expectant mothers are wary of the topic, or how many just want to learn more about how the condition can impact them during their pregnancy.

In this edition of the AAMC Health Connection Podcast, AAMC gestational diabetes expert Maureen Connick, R.N., provides some insight on the warning signs that the condition could be developing, how it’s combated, and how the AAMC Center for Maternal Fetal Medicine can keep women and their baby as safe as possible through the duration of your pregnancy.

According to the Maryland Department of Health, more than half a million Maryland residents have diabetes.  Yet many of them remain undiagnosed, leading to negative health complications. 

AAMC Diabetes Educator Arianne Coffman joins the AAMC Health Connection Podcast to discuss diabetes, how the disease develops, and nutritional changes people with diabetes can make to better control their disease, and improve their overall health.  She also provides the signs and symptoms that diabetes may be developing, and how to keep the disease from catching you off guard.
