You are invited to participate in a year-long review of Internal Medicine.  The MKSAP study group will meet every 4 to 6 weeks with a specialist to discuss new developments and clinical insights in their field.  The participants and the specialist are invited to review the MKSAP syllabus and answer the questions.  174 hours of CME credit may be earned by sending in your answers with additional hours earned by attending the seminars.

Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing for Fetal Aneuploidy

Women’s and Children’s Department Maternal Fetal Medicine Conference invites Ob/Gyn’s, neonatologists, pediatricians, family practitioners, women’s and children’s department staff and all other interested medical staff and allied health professionals to attend a CME presentation on Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing for Fetal Aneuploidy presented by Jeffrey Spencer, M.D., Center for Maternal and Fetal Medicine on Thursday, October 25 at noon in the Doordan Institute.

1)      Describe current available methods of aneuploidy screening and diagnosis

2)      Discuss the science behind non-invasive prenatal testing for fetal aneuploidy

Objectives: After participating in this activity, successful participants should be able to:
-evaluate the role of surgery, adjuvant chemotherapy, radiation therapy, hormonal therapy, and others in treating cancer.
-introduce and evaluate new treatment and diagnostic tests regarding cancer.
-provide peer review and case management of current cancer therapies.

Needs Assessment: There is growing understanding nationwide of the need for a comprehensive approach to the treatment of cancer patients. Based on data from many scientific trials demonstrating the benefits of multimodal treatments for various cancers, the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC) is strongly encouraging member institutions to provide more emphasis on a cohesive, comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to each individual cancer patient. A greater commitment on clinical trial accrual is also encouraged, and this is best coordinated via comprehensive cancer tumor board conferences.
