Scott Eden, MD, medical director of AAMC’s Community Clinics, was recently honored by the Anne Arundel County Early Childhood Coalition with a “Jennifer Summers Barrett Champion of Children Award.” This award is given annually by the Anne Arundel County Early Childhood Coalition (ECC) in memory of Jennifer Summers Barrett, who was an amazing Teacher and “Champion of Young Children.” Each year, the Early Childhood Coalition recognizes a person who has made a significant impact on the lives of young children in our county. This year the award was presented at the Anne Arundel County Public Schools Annual Volunteer Breakfast. The Early Childhood Coalition, whose members are appointed by the County Executive and represent child-serving agencies, engages the community on behalf of children to make school readiness a priority in Anne Arundel County.
This year, AAMC clinicians provided flu vaccines to more than 2,500 community members through on-campus clinics and events out in the community. This means thousands of potential flu infections—and potential deaths from complications of flu—were prevented.
Medical staff, employees and community members may receive a free flu vaccine at AAMC. Find more information including the flu vaccine clinic schedule here. As a reminder, for the health and safety of our patients, employees and visitors, AAMC requires all employees, affiliated medical staff, volunteers, students, contracted staff, and vendors to receive an annual seasonal flu vaccine.
