Anne Arundel Medical Center has earned the Organization Patient Safety Certification given by the Maryland Patient Safety Center, in partnership with national healthcare consultant Courtemanche & Associates.
While existing patient safety certification models are geared to individual healthcare professionals, the Organization Patient Safety Certification is designed to train and educate staff, clinical and non-clinical, at all levels of the organization.
AAMC was the first healthcare organization in Maryland to pilot the certification program. More than 100 representatives across AAMC’s health system focused on critical risk reduction strategies to eliminate errors and enhance safety culture throughout the organization.
“This certification underscores Anne Arundel Medical Center’s commitment to delivering the best quality care to our patients,” said Shirley Knelly, vice president for quality and patient safety. “We constantly examine and reexamine every aspect of quality and keep safety in the forefront of every AAMC staffer’s awareness in everything we do.”
