(June 5, 2013)—Anne Arundel Medical Center’s Adrian Park, MD, is the 2013 honoree for the Georgetown Lifetime Achievement Award in Abdominal Wall Reconstruction (AWR). The award will be presented on June 7 at the 2013 Georgetown University Hospital AWR Conference, which will be held June 6 to 8 in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Park, an internationally recognized laparoscopic surgeon, is chair of the Department of Surgery at Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC), where he is responsible for surgical programmatic growth, quality improvement and fostering innovation and learning in the department. He is also the founder and chairman of the James and Sylvia Earl Simulation to Advance Innovation and Learning Center (SAIL) at AAMC.
With more than 20 patents, Dr. Park has made major advancements in the improvement of laparoscopic procedures and the development of new medical device for complex hernia repair, spleen and adrenal surgery. He has authored 200 scientific articles and book chapters, and is co-editor in chief of the journal, Surgical Innovations. Through the Cleveland Clinic, he co-directs a monthly telecast, “Innovations in Surgery,” broadcast to top international medical centers.
