(October 2, 2013)—Anne Arundel Medical Center Urogynecologists Briana Walton, MD, Kay Hoskey, MD and Yong Zheng, MD, are among the first to become board-certified in pelvic and reconstructive surgery. The three are among approximately 734 doctors nationwide to successfully complete the qualification process on the inaugural boards for this newly recognized, highly sub-specialized field of medicine, offered jointly by the American Board of Urology and the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
The three urogynecologists provide specialized care at the Women’s Center for Pelvic Health located on the AAMC campus. This achievement focuses on the surgical and non-surgical treatment of pelvic floor disorders, which include pelvic organ prolapse, urinary and bowel incontinence. Many women develop pelvic floor complications due to childbirth, menopause, repeated heavy lifting, or chronic disease.
