Auxiliary Honored for Dedication, Service

Ida Marshall(May 6, 2014)—In celebration of National Volunteer Week, Anne Arundel Medical Center Auxiliary volunteers were recently honored for their service.

As part of the celebration, AAMC honored the more 285 volunteers who reached milestones in their volunteer service from 200 hours all the way up to 30,000 hours. During the celebration, Auxilian Ida Marshall of Annapolis was presented with a special award commemorating her 20,500 hours of service. She began with the Auxiliary in 1973. She works at the North Tower Information Desk.

In addition to services provided by volunteers in patient care areas at the hospital, Auxiliary members also provide fundraising, run the retail shops, or work the information desks, among the many opportunities.

Facts & Figures about the AAMC Auxiliary:

• The auxiliary has 615 active members who donate 165,000 hours a year. It is the second largest hospital auxiliary in Maryland.

• Auxilians work in more than work in more than 87 service areas.

• In the last year, the Auxiliary has donated $575,000 to AAMC’s Foundation.

• Since 1987 Auxiliary has pledged more than $11M to the medical center.
