ANNAPOLIS, Md. (JULY 27, 2012) – Director of Information Management Applications Babette Vos of Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) was presented the TWIN award from the Annapolis YWCA at a ceremony held in the Westin Annapolis Hotel on June 6.
Vos first joined AAMC in 2000 as manager of software applications. Originally from South Africa, she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of South Africa and earned a Diploma in Nursing from the University of Orange Free State in South Africa. In her current position as director of information systems applications, Vos oversees the operations of information systems. A member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), she currently lives in Annapolis.
The TWIN (Tribute to Women in Industry) award is presented to women who have made significant contributions to industry in leadership positions. Vos was chosen for the honor for successfully directing the implementation the electronic medical record (EMR) used by AAMC, which includes a computerized physician order entry system (CPOE). The hospital’s EMR adoption level places the organization at Stage 6 HIMSS analytics, a feat that places AAMC in the top 7 percent of the more than 5,000 hospitals included in the HIMSS survey. AAMC’s comprehensive EMR usage also earned the hospital a 2011 Most Wired Award and a Leapfrog Group “Top Hospital” designation.
