 Welcome to AAMC’s Nursing web site. We recently held a Nursing Grand Rounds focusing on Patient- and Family-Centered Care and it seems fitting to invite, not only our staff, but also our patients, their families and members of our community to explore this site. As we continue to make changes that intentionally include patients and families as members of the AAMC health care team, this web site is one more way we can connect with each other. What is Patient- and Family-Centered Care? Its incorporating patient and family knowledge, values, beliefs and cultural backgrounds into the planning and delivery of care; communicating and sharing complete and unbiased information with patients and families in ways that are affirming and useful; and the participation of patients and families in decision-making—at the level they choose. It’s what we strive for.
