Our occupational therapists help patients fully participate in the meaningful activities of daily life. These activities include dressing, bathing, cooking, cleaning, driving and other pursuits related to work and leisure. During evaluation, the occupational therapist will also assess cognition, vision, range of motion, strength and coordination, as problems in these areas may impact your ability to safely and independently perform your daily activities.
Occupational therapists focus on your abilities rather than disabilities to help you reach your goals. We educate patients on how to use their bodies in the safest and most effective ways while conserving energy, protecting joints, and using compensatory strategies to achieve the greatest degree of independence. Patients with diagnoses such as stroke, fractures, brain injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, shoulder and hip replacements, and arthritis may benefit from occupational therapy.
Occupational Therapy is offered in Hospital Pavilion North and also in our Outpatient Rehabilitation facility.
