AAMC Breast Center
Now Offering Services On Kent Island

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (November 15, 2010)— The AAMC Breast Center has officially opened its doors to its new office on Kent Island, closer to home for the residents of Queen Anne’s County.

Patients can make appointments at this location with AAMC’s fellowship-trained breast surgeons and medical breast specialist. Nurse practitioners and physician assistants, all specially trained in breast care, are seeing patients as well.

AAMC Health Services – Kent Island

AAMC Health Services Kent Island continues to support patients from Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Since opening in June 2008, the physicians and clinical staff of Anne Arundel Medical Center’s 55,000-square-foot health care service pavilion, AAMC Health Services – Kent Island, have provided a new level of health care support to residents of Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

Featuring a walk-in, after hours urgent care center, a full-service diagnostic radiology center, lab services, and specialty and primary care physicians, the building supports a region that for years, was without many of the vital health care services a growing region needs.

The Services The Shore Asked For
In planning the new facility, AAMC held community focus groups and conducted research studies to learn directly from Eastern Shore residents about what types of medical services and physicians they would want to see featured in the new facility.  One direct result: an extended-hours urgent care center.

Johns Hopkins Community Physicians, in partnership with AAMC, offers both primary care and extended-hours urgent care in AAMC Health Services – Kent Island.  This valuable service currently treats hundreds of urgent care cases each month.

“For years, Shore residents had traveled to Annapolis for their health care,” said Steve Clarke, AAMC’s vice president of business development.  “Our new facility brings physicians directly to Eastern Shore residents, and the result has been tremendous.  The community has welcomed us into their region, and we think the relationship has been extremely positive.”
