AAMC Health Services – Kent Island Fact Sheet Who: Anne Arundel Medical Center (www.aahs.org) What: Anne Arundel Medical Center recently opened AAMC Health Services – Kent Island, a 55,000-square-foot ambulatory care facility containing an urgent care walk-in clinic and satellite location of the AAMC Breast Center. In addition to primary care and specialty physician offices, the new facility offers a full-service Anne Arundel Diagnostics radiology center and AAMC laboratory services. When: Planning and preparation for AAMC Health Services – Kent Island began in 2004. In Fall 2006, AAMC purchased the four-acre lot for AAMC Health Services – Kent Island from the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department. Throughout 2006, AAMC conducted consumer awareness and preference studies, as well as various focus groups, to obtain direct feedback from residents of Eastern Shore counties about the services they wanted in an AAMC Eastern Shore facility. On September 15, 2007, AAMC broke ground on the new facility. Construction continued through March 2008. In April 2008, the first physician tenants of AAMC Health Services – Kent Island, as well as Anne Arundel Diagnostics, AAMC Laboratory Services, and the urgent care services, opened to the public. In June 2008, the second physician tenants opened their doors in preparation for the official community kickoff event, June 14, 2008. AAMC Health Services – Kent Island is the third of three AAMC outpatient health care facilities. AAMC Health Services – Bowie and AAMC Health Services – Waugh Chapel have been in operation since 2004.
