The da Vinci S Robotic Surgical System - The Future Is Here.

Anne Arundel Medical Center is the only hospital in Maryland (and one of only three in the Mid-Atlantic region) to offer minimally invasive robotic prostatectomy and thoracic surgery using the newest model da Vinci S system. The da Vinci S system combines robotic technology with our surgeons’ skill to simplify prostate cancer surgery and thoracic surgery procedures and make new types of minimally invasive surgery possible for our patients.Click here to read more.

Our AAMC surgeons perform a variety of inpatient and outpatient procedures from the routine to the technologically advanced. In addition to general surgeries, they specialize in breast, colon and rectal, orthopedic, pediatric, retinal, thoracic and vascular, urology and ear, nose and throat surgery, as well as neurosurgery and plastic surgery. Board-certified anesthesiologists plan and supervise anesthesia care for all patients. Plus, 24-hour physician care through the hospitalist and intensivist programs means a doctor is always nearby to make sure recovery for inpatients is progressing smoothly.

Surgery includes an array of inpatient and outpatient procedures:

  • Our nationally known Joint Center is a dedicated, specialized unit that provides a continuum of care for patients undergoing knee or hip replacements, including surgery and rehabilitation. The center was one of the first of its kind in the country offer a comprehensive, standardized program of care, assuring that patients receive the most comprehensive, effective treatment.
  • The Spine Center is where AAMC neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists and orthopedists treat patients using minimally invasive spine surgery techniques. Using these treatments for back or neck surgery means less risk and quicker recoveries.
  • The Edwards Pavilion, our outpatient surgery center, is a state-of-the-art facility specially equipped for performing minimally invasive procedures in areas such as ear, nose and throat, gynecology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, and general surgery. Nearly 90 percent of all outpatient surgeries are performed here, in six operating rooms equipped with the latest medical technology.
  • Advanced arthroscopic techniques are used by surgeons to treat shoulder, knee, ankle and wrist injuries. These less invasive procedures are especially successful for treating sports injuries.
