Baby being cared for in the NICU Our Level III+ Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provides the highest level of care for critically ill babies, premature newborns and infants requiring close observation. The unit is staffed with full-time neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners, plus nurses with specialized NICU training. Frequent voice contact and healing touch helps infants feel secure, gain weight and thrive. Parents are encouraged to be with their babies as much as they can—in the NICU, visiting hours are all 24 hours. Minimally Invasive Gynecological SurgeryMinimally invasive techniques offer numerous benefits to women who must undergo gynecological surgery. Smaller incisions, less tissue disruption, shorter hospital stays and quicker recoveries are some of these benefits. AAMC specialists employ advanced laparoscopic surgical techniques to treat uterine, cervical and early-stage ovarian cancers, as well as uterine fibroids, ovarian masses and extensive endometriosis. Center for Maternal and Fetal MedicineSome pregnancies present special challenges for mothers and physicians. That’s why the AAMC Center for Maternal and Fetal Medicine offers specialized services from pre-pregnancy counseling to delivery. Specialists help couples seeking genetic counseling or testing prior to pregnancy and assist women whose pregnancies are considered high-risk. They also offer in-depth diagnostic tests including ultrasound, amniocentesis, and Chorionic Villous Sampling, among others. |
