AAMC Certified Nurse MidwivesCaring and Expertise Throughout Pregnancy and Birth
In addition to our highly skilled obstetricians, women can choose Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) for their pregnancy, birth, postpartum care and routine gynecological care. Our midwives are a reassuring and continuous presence, helping women have the personalized care they desire backed up by the comprehensive resources of a major health system. Board certified by the American Collage of Nurse Midwives, CNMs are experienced Registered Nurses who have completed advanced graduate education in obstetrics and midwifery. Our CNMs are licensed by the State of Maryland and credentialed by AAMC to help manage the birth process and support women through labor and delivery. Certified Nurse Midwives offer:
AAMC supports a woman’s choice during her birth process and welcomes those who may help her to feel more comfortable. Some women may choose to be attended by a doula or other experienced companion during the birth process. Doulas are women who are trained to offer emotional support and encouragement during labor and delivery and assistance throughout the transformation and adjustments of welcoming a new family member.
