Pediatrics

AAMC's pediatric unit is located at the Rebecca Clatanoff Pavilion. The unit is decorated with an "Under the Sea" theme, designed to speed the recovery of all ages of pediatric patients.

  • Private rooms with bathroom, shower, TV and Nintendo
  • A sleep chair in every room for parents to stay over night
  • Playroom with games, toys, books and a salt-water aquarium
  • Kitchen on the unit for parents to use
  • Step-down nursery for NICU infants awaiting discharge
  • In-house pediatrician on the unit 24 hours a day

Pediatric Hospitalists

Our pediatric hospitalists are a talented team of doctors who are specially chosen and experienced in providing inpatient care to infants, children, and adolescents. They oversee and coordinate the medical care of your child during his or her stay at AAMC and will work in close coordination with your pediatrician or family doctor, if you have one.

These dedicated physicians work only in the hospital, which means that they can focus all of their time, caring, and energy on looking after vour child. They are available, as needed, 24 hours a day as well as on-call coverage for pediatric patients who come to AAMC's Emergency Department at the downtown campus. Other pediatric specialists are also available to assist with the treatment of your child when necessary.

From admission through discharge, our team of hospitalists will be in regular communication with the primary care physician, if your child has one. The hospitalists will talk with the doctor about your child's medical history upon admission and they will remain in communication during the stay.

Pediatric Surgical Tours

Is your child or pediatric patient scheduled for surgery at Anne Arundel Medical Center?

Tours are offered to pediatric patients.

Encourage them to attend one of AAMC’s Pediatric Surgical Tours. Our tours offer school-aged children and their parents the chance to:

  • Learn what to expect from their surgical experience;
  • Familiarize themselves with the sights and sounds of the surgical area;
  • Attend a hands-on walk through of the Short Stay unit, Operating Room and Post Anesthesia Care Unit;
  • See an orientation video;
  • Ask questions to alleviate concerns associated with surgery.

Patients who plan to spend the night after surgery can also tour the Pediatric unit in the Clatanoff Pavilion.

For information or to schedule a Pediatric Surgical Tour, call askAAMC at 443-481-4000.
