Adrian Park, MD
Chair of the Department of Surgery
Adrian Park, M.D., is chair of the Department of Surgery and is responsible for surgical programmatic growth, quality improvement and fostering innovation and learning in the department. He works closely with the members of AAMC’s Medical Executive Committee, Medical Staff and Administration.
Dr. Park was chair of Surgery at Dalhousie University and Chief of Surgery for the Capital District Health Authority, both in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is the former vice chairman of surgery and chief of General Surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center as well as a member of the faculty at University of Maryland. He is the former director of the Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery, head of surgical endoscopy and chief of the section of gastrointestinal surgery at the University of Kentucky.
Dr. Park is a member of the American Surgical Association, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, American College of Surgeons and the College of Surgeons of Central Eastern and Southern Africa. He received his Doctor of Medicine from McMaster University in Canada.
The author of over 200 scientific articles and book chapters, he is internationally known as a leading authority in the field of minimally invasive surgery, “OR of the Future” technology and surgical education. He is also co-editor and chief of the journal, “Surgical Innovation.”
Sohail Zaidi, MD
Medical Director of Perioperative Services
Dr. Zaidi is medical director of Perioperative Services and a board-certified anesthesiologist. He is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Anne Arundel Medical Center's surgical suites including the hospital's Acute Care Pavilion, Edwards Surgical Pavilion, Endoscopy, Pre-Anesthesia Testing Center, Central Sterile Services and Surgical Services Scheduling. In addition, Dr. Zaidi also focuses on continual efforts to improve quality and patient safety.
Before becoming an anesthesiologist, Dr. Zaidi practiced Internal Medicine, critical care, and emergency medicine. He joined Anne Arundel Medical Center in 2000. He helped create the Pre-Admission Testing Center and develop current guidelines for the Pre-Anesthesia Testing Center. He is a member at-large of the Medical Executive Committee and a member of the Executive Quality Council. He served as Interim Chair of Surgery in 2011.
Dr. Zaidi received his medical degree from Dow Medical College in Pakistan. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore. His anesthesiology residency was completed at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia.
He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Maryland Society of Anesthesiologists, and American Association of Clinical Directors.
