Anne Arundel Medical Center

Learn more about our surgical specialties:

Pediatrics

Our pediatric surgery team provides comprehensive surgical care for children from birth to the age of 18.  Our surgeons perform a wide range of procedures to treat our youngest patients, in areas including ophthalmology; orthopedics; ear nose and throat; urology; dental and general surgery.

Because visiting the hospital can be especially stressful for children and their parents, we strive to provide compassionate, high-quality family-centered care that respects every child’s developmental, social, and emotional needs.  We make sure parents have easy access to operating and recovery areas and offer family-friendly visiting hours, support groups and other services to help make children’s surgical experiences as smooth and stress-free as possible.

Pediatric Surgical Tours
Is your child scheduled for surgery at Anne Arundel Medical Center?  Bring him or her to one of AAMC’s Pediatric Surgical Tours.

Our tours offer school-aged children and their parents and caregivers the chance to:

  1. Learn what to expect from their surgical experience;
  2. Familiarize themselves with the sights and sounds of the surgical area;
  3. Attend a hands-on walk through of the Short Stay unit, Operating Room and Post Anesthesia Care Unit;
  4. See an orientation video;
  5. Ask questions to alleviate concerns associated with surgery.

Patients who plan to spend the night after surgery can also tour the Pediatric unit in the Clatanoff Pavilion.  For information or to schedule a Pediatric Surgical Tour, call askAAMC at  443-481-4000.
