Your child will be admitted to the hospital by a member of our Pediatric Hospitalist team. A Pediatric Hospitalist is a physician who specializes exclusively in the care of children during the time those children are in the hospital. AAMC’s Pediatric Hospitalists are on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When not caring for your child directly, a hospitalist is never more than a few minutes away from your child’s bedside.
All of our Pediatric Hospitalists have extensive experience in diagnosing and treating childhood diseases that require admission to the hospital. Our hospitalists will evaluate your child, discuss with you both the diagnosis and the treatment plan, and keep you informed about the results of tests and treatments. Your pediatrician may then assume responsibility for your child’s hospital care, or you may ask the hospitalist to continue to serve as your child’s attending physician.
Hospitalists are on-site and available around the clock to tend to your child’s medical needs and oversee and coordinate care during his or her stay at AAMC. They also work in close coordination with your family doctor to make the transition from inpatient care to outpatient care as seamless as possible. Our hospitalists will always keep your doctor up to date on your child’s medical progress.
