Infusion Therapy
Infusion therapy allows you to receive medication or other treatments intravenously (through a vein). The Infusion Center at Anne Arundel Medical Center provides outpatient infusion therapy for cancer and other conditions.
Infusion Therapy Services
When infusion therapy is part of your treatment plan, your care team includes doctors, nurses and pharmacists. Nurses with special training in oncology give you chemotherapy or other infusion therapy services. Your care team monitors your treatment and takes care of medication-related issues like side effects, dosage and medication changes.
Our comprehensive infusion therapy services include:
-
Chemotherapy: Treats cancer
- Fluid therapy: Prevents or treats dehydration
-
Hormone therapy: Kills, slows or stops cancer cells and their growth
-
Immune therapy (biotherapy): Boosts or trains your immune system to fight diseases, like cancer
- Catheter management: Inserting and taking care of all types of catheters
- Specialized infusions: Giving medications such as antibiotics, antibodies and antivirals to treat conditions that develop with cancer, along with other medical conditions such as cardiac diseases, anemia, pneumonia, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, osteoporosis, Lyme disease and other infections
