• Is Weight Loss Surgery Right for Me?

    Bariatric Surgery Criteria

Deciding if weight loss surgery is right for you can be exciting and scary — at the same time. But if you’ve been struggling with obesity and are concerned about your health, now may be the time to start your journey.

The National Institutes of Health recommends bariatric surgery candidates meet the following criteria:

    • Body mass index (BMI) of 40 or more
    • BMI greater than 35 with existing medical condition or disease caused or worsened by obesity
    • Failed medical management of weight gain and weight-related diseases

    What’s in a Number?

Your BMI measures body fat based on your weight and height. Find out your BMI below:

    BMI Calculator

    • Underweight: below 18.5
    • Normal Weight: 18.5-24.9
    • Overweight: 25-29.9
    • Obese: BMI of 30 or greater

    Take Your First Step

Weight loss is a journey of many steps. The first step is signing up for our free seminar to meet with our surgeons and learn more about our program and surgical options available. All weight loss surgery candidates must attend.

After the seminar, you’ll schedule your first office visit. This visit will provide important medical clearances required for surgery. Through the clearance process, providers evaluate your heart health, conduct a sleep study and perform a psychological screening across several appointments. These required clearances ensure your health and safety.
