The Advanced GI MIS Fellowship program at Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) is designed for graduates of an accredited general surgery residency who are ready to progress their training in the areas of advanced gastrointestinal surgery, flexible endoscopy and abdominal wall reconstruction.
As a fellow in our program, 50% of your time will be spent concentrating on the full spectrum of gastrointestinal surgery with a strict focus on diseases of the foregut, as well as experience with solid organ resection and surgery of the large and small bowel. The rest of the time will be spent receiving extensive training in the field of abdominal wall reconstruction. This experience will include unique opportunity to master the latest minimally invasive reconstructive techniques, laparoscopically and robotically, in a center with the highest MIS reconstructive series in the world to-date. In addition, you will also get extensive experience with open reconstructive techniques.

Our curriculum provides ongoing educational and research activities to ensure you the experience, resources and mentorship needed to meet your individual advancement goals. One of the key quality features of our program is the Simulation to Advance Innovation and Learning (SAIL) Center that is located onsite at AAMC and is accredited by the American College of Surgeons as a Comprehensive Education Institute. SAIL is a 10,000-square foot, state-of-the-art facility that offers dynamic simulation, research and educational opportunities. As a fellow in this program, you will gain the skills and experience you need to function as an independent surgeon and build new programs in advanced gastrointestinal and minimally invasive surgery, with a strong emphasis in advanced flexible endoscopy.
