Amar Rewari, MD, MBA has joined the DeCesaris Cancer Institute as the Chief of Radiation Oncology for Luminis Health. Dr. Rewari is a board-certified radiation oncologist trained to treat all types of cancer with the latest radiation therapy techniques. He is a leader in the field of radiation oncology as chair of ASTRO’s Code Development and Valuation Committee, the RUC advisor to the AMA, a faculty speaker and organizer of the annual ASTRO coding and coverage seminar, and an editor and contributor to their coding manual. He also sits on the ARS breast cancer expert panel that set evidence-based guidelines and is featured in ASTRO’s online patient education videos. Dr. Rewari has authored numerous publications, moderated scientific sessions, and received grants to speak at international conferences. Dr. Rewari serves on Acumen’s Episode-Based Cost Measure Oncologic Diseases Subcommittee, ACR’s Economic Committee on Radiation Oncology and ASCO’s Clinical Practice Committee. He has previously worked in the Office of the Chairman at Aetna as a Health Policy Associate, in the HealthCare group at Credit Suisse as an investment banker, at Associates in Radiation Medicine as a partner, and currently serves as a Trustee at the Fund for Education Abroad. Dr. Rewari graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in political science with honors from Temple University. Dr. Rewari received his MD and MBA degrees from Yale University School of Medicine and Yale University School of Management. He completed his internal medicine internship at Yale-New Haven Hospital and radiation oncology residency at Rutgers University, where he was named Chief Resident, received the Dean’s Research Award, the RSNA Research award, and ASTRO’s highest award for clinical research at their annual meeting. Dr. Rewari was also selected as a ASTRO health policy fellow in their inaugural class.
