Sara Shaffer comes to AAMG Bay Area Midwifery with 13 years of midwifery experience after graduating from San Diego State University in 2005. For the past 20 years, she provided care to military women and beneficiaries- first as a labor and delivery nurse, and then as a midwife. She retired from the United States Navy in June 2017. One of Sara’s many passions is to provide breastfeeding support to new mothers. She maintains her certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Sara is excited to bring her professional experiences in midwifery, breastfeeding support, natural family planning, and colposcopy to our practice. In her free time, Sara enjoys mothering her five beautiful children and running. She has run several marathons and half marathons, and strongly believes that exercising and staying fit is one of the most important things women can do to promote a healthy pregnancy.
